After a four-year break, the Geneva Motor Show (GIMS) is making its comeback this week. Even though many manufacturers are still missing from the once prestigious and important trade fair in its first edition after the pandemic, important companies are still represented at the 91st industry meeting. One of them is Build Your Dreams (BYD).

The electric car manufacturer from China, recently named number one in the world, is setting off a real model fireworks display against the spectacular backdrop of Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva. The car manufacturer from Shenzhen, founded in 2003, has brought four world and European premieres to Switzerland. These include the SUV “Seal U” and the luxury off-roader “Yangwang U8 s”, which are intended to complement the European range of currently six electric vehicles. They are scheduled to be introduced on the old continent this year. In addition, BYD is also presenting new products from its Denza sub-brand, which was founded with Mercedes in 2010: the plug-in hybrid minivan “D9” and the sporty, luxurious crossover “N7”.

The “BYD Explorer 1” arrived in Bremerhaven almost at the same time – a transport ship that brought more than 3,000 BYDs to the Federal Republic. The “BYD Explorer 1” is the first maritime car transporter from the People’s Republic. Seven more BYD ships are already under construction and are primarily scheduled to head to Europe.
