The German stock market has recovered somewhat after its price slide the day before. The most important stock indices closed little changed on Wednesday. However, it is still uncertain how the central banks will proceed in combating inflation. If they act too restrictively, they run the risk of strangling the economy and thus placing a heavy burden on the stock markets.

In early trading, the Dax fell below the 15,000 point mark for the first time since March, before recovering and ultimately rising by 0.10 percent to 15,099.92 points.

However, the recent turbulence should not obscure the fact that the leading index is still up 8.5 percent this year. The MDax is in a worse situation because it temporarily ate up its annual profits on Wednesday when it fell below the 25,000 point mark. The index of medium-sized stocks closed 0.06 percent lower at 25,281.13 points.
