The Prime Minister of Schleswig-Holstein, Daniel Günther, recently said a sentence that could become a leitmotif for politics. It was intended for his boss, the CDU chairman Friedrich Merz, but the sentence is suitable for parties and politicians of all stripes. Günther said you should “don’t tell people shit”.
Sounds easy right? In practice, however, the principle is difficult to maintain. Especially in times of traffic lights, when Chancellor Olaf Scholz recently seriously tried to persuade the citizens that this country is on the verge of a new economic miracle. Thanks to his ingenious politics. Just in case anyone forgot, Germany is in a recession.
