Too nice and too boring? It has always been popular to make films about great personalities, but there is never been made a feature film about queen Margrethe of denmark.
recent years have otherwise been very successful in portraying the british royal family. In 2006, won the Helen Mirren among other things, an Oscar for her performance as queen Elizabeth 2. in the film ‘The Queen’, and Sunday is the Netflix premiere of a third season of ‘The Crown’, which also depicts the british royal family from 1947 onwards.
In Denmark, yet kept himself from making the royal family for popcorn-entertainment. ‘A terrible woman’-director Christian Tafdrup has for several years tried in vain to make a film about crown prince Frederik’s young years, but in addition, there has not been that big.
Here, give the various people from the Danish film industry their take on why there has not yet been made a movie about queen Margrethe:
The veteran film director has never intended to make a film about queen Margrethe of denmark. He thinks that the total of the film business have abstained from it, because her story is too dramatic.
“Even if she is the on its own way is a clever woman, perhaps because she is not interesting enough as a dramatic character’, he says and adds:
“It is well known that the british monarchy under queen Elizabeth has been subjected to many problems with the divorce, Diana’s death and so on, where the Danish royal family-all else equal-has been more spared of the kind. So I have just a little hard to see how such a story should be approached.”
Founded in 1992, the film company Zentropa Jokerbet with Lars Von Trier. They have also never considered making a film of the queen Margrethe.
“It’s pretty close to the border for me to make something of a living person, since you never know the story fully. I think there are plenty of good stories in queen Margrethe, but she’s gonna be at least ten years older before you have to start looking at it. It is too strange to make a movie, while she is full active,” he says, and adds:
“We have been called on it many times, but we have simply too much respect for the royal family to describe them.”
Nikolaj Arcel has already affected the Danish royal family, when he in 2012 had an international hit with ‘A royal affair’ and trekantsdramaet between Christian the seventh, Caroline Mathilde and the court physician Struense.
“I have no plans or thoughts about making a film about queen Margrethe of denmark. With ‘A royal affair’ I threw myself out of one of the more dramatic chapters in Danish royal history, and I think that Caroline Mathilde, Christian the 7. and Struense is difficult to peaks that filmsubjekter.”
Why do you think there is made a film about queen Margrethe ii?
“I don’t know, but I wonder if it comes in before long in the aftermath of ‘The Crown’?”
