The national mixed martial arts (MMA) dressed up last Saturday in the capital. In a luxury event, with the auditorium at the Marriott Hotel packed to the brim, Enrique ‘Wasabi’ Marín returned to the WOW cage with a great victory against the experienced Álex Quilez. The Sevillian fighter managed to hit the fighter from Reus in the liver and finish off the job with the ‘ground and pound’, scoring a spectacular victory in just one minute.
But WOW 6 had many attractions. On the main card, Rafael Calderón ‘Leprechaun’ beat the Lithuanian Mantas Rimsa in a hard-fought fight, achieving victory in the third round by ‘ground and pound’. David Matas from Madrid was able to put into play a high rhythm that helped him to dominate the fight from start to finish.
The Circus Arena fighter managed to subdue Armando Bayos, in a duel that had a special rivalry as both had been training partners. Juan Izquierdo ‘El Chapo’, like his Kiofu Team mate Rafael Calderón, made his professional debut with victory, in this case after beating Brazilian Weverton dos Santos by guillotine in the first set.
The main card was opened by Arturo Aedillo ‘Brek’ and Enrique Jamanca, in an intense duel that ended in a draw. Sparks also flew in the preliminary matches. Manuel del Valle Bouzid achieved victory by submitting Adonay Molina; Yaman ‘El Diamante’ did his own thing in the second round against José Gilarte who put up a lot of battle in the first round. Víctor Martos scored the victory against Raúl Constantin; Manuel Cordón defeated Richard Jacome by split decision and Enresto Schisano defeated Gonzalo Landarech by unanimous decision.
