Until now, the general secretary and deputy spokesperson of the Vox Parliamentary Group, Macarena Olona, has revealed the winners of the pool that jumped to public opinion as soon as her candidacy for the Andalusian Government was made official. With her departure from Congress, the question was immediate: who will play her role in the Lower House? He will not be one person, but two. And it has been Olona herself who has communicated it on Twitter. The deputies Inés Cañizares and José María Figaredo will be deputy spokesperson and general secretary of the group, respectively.

Thus, it confirms what had been in recent days a rumor that was gaining strength in the parliamentary group: that there would be no substitution to use, with a single person in charge of assuming the two roles that placed Olona as the perfect partner of a tandem with the group’s spokesman, Iván Espinosa de los Monteros, separated only by the Andalusian elections on June 19.

Olona will leave her seat in the near future, before June 3, to focus exclusively on Andalusia and take on the campaign without being a national deputy. No safety net. Her bet on her in these elections leads Vox for the first time to want to compete face to face with bipartisanship, an objective that the polls are currently moving away from.

Cañizares (51 years old), deputy for Toledo, is an economist; Figaredo (33 years old), parliamentarian for Asturias, lawyer. The party has opted for both because they believe they have projection and can make themselves known very soon on the national scene. With their appointments, Vox seeks to increase the number of visible faces in its formation and to give prominence to more people at this stage, after three decisive years for the consolidation of the party with two powerful profiles such as Espinosa de los Monteros and Olona.

Vox sources pointed out these days in the corridors of Congress that they want to give confidence to people who have earned it and that more members will also be given opportunities to shine, regardless of whether they have a position in the group’s leadership. “I’m not going to wish you luck in your new responsibilities. I know that luck will find them working. Like lions », Olona wrote on Twitter to Cañizares and Figaredo, by way of congratulations.
