In the trial of an act of violence at a Bremerhaven high school, the 21-year-old defendant denied an intention to kill.
Heavily armed and with “battle clothes” he wanted to set up a threat scenario in his former school, according to a statement made by his defense attorney before the Bremen Regional Court. The aim was a “suicide by cop”, i.e. a fatal shot from a police officer’s gun. At the time of the crime he was suffering from social phobia and depression.
After not being admitted to high school, he fell deeper and deeper into a hole. He played video games up to 12 hours a day. He blamed his teacher for his poor school performance. He apologized through his attorney for the crime.
The man, who according to the indictment is German-Turkish, is charged with attempted murder. In his former school, he is said to have shot the school secretary twice with a crossbow in May, the woman was critically injured. Later he is said to have shot a passer-by on the street with a crossbow. The man was unharmed.
