After passing the TÜV test, the historic funicular in Dresden has been running again since Saturday. Because the summer timetable comes into effect on Saturday at the same time, passengers can use the connection between Körnerplatz and the Weißer Hirsch district daily until 9:30 p.m. and thus one hour longer than in winter, as the Dresden transport company announced. On weekdays, the train always starts operating at 6:30 a.m. and at weekends at 9 a.m., it said.

The routine spring inspection took place between March 20th and 31st. However, no complex general inspection was carried out, which is only due every ten years, but only the parts necessary for safety and driving operation were checked. In addition, the annual TÜV acceptance was carried out, as it was said. The experts therefore certified that the track was in good condition.

The historic mountain railway was put into operation in 1895 and is now one of the tourist attractions in the state capital. It has been a listed building since 1984. During the ascent, it meanders through two short stretches of tunnel and over a 102 meter long bridge viaduct. It is subject to a twelve-day revision twice a year.
