Lydia Hüskens has been re-elected state chairwoman of the FDP in Saxony-Anhalt. At a state party conference in Magdeburg on Saturday, she received around 93 percent approval. She got 106 votes in favor, 6 delegates voted no, there were 2 abstentions.
The 59-year-old has been head of state since July 2021 and led the FDP back to the state parliament as the top candidate after ten years of extra-parliamentary opposition. At the Liberal party conference two years ago, she received 100 out of 103 votes in favor with 2 abstentions and one no vote, which corresponded to around 97 percent approval. Further board members were to be elected in Magdeburg on Saturday.
Hüskens is Minister for Infrastructure and Digital Affairs in the black, red and yellow state government. She is also part of the presidium of the federal party.
