The death of a 48-year-old woman after being attacked with a knife this Sunday while working at the ‘Epílogo’ restaurant in Tomelloso has been confirmed as a case of gender-based violence, according to the Government Subdelegation.

The Civil Guard is still looking for the suspect, the man with whom the woman had a romantic relationship and about whom there were no previous complaints of abuse.

The woman’s body was located in one of the premises of the establishment, which was full of people when several communions were held, around 7:20 p.m. this Sunday and the uprising did not occur until around 1:00 a.m. .

The Tomelloso City Council has called a minute of silence this Monday at 9:00 p.m. in the Plaza de España, as a sign of condemnation for the crime.

In addition, three days of mourning have been decreed in memory of the victim, in which the flags will fly at half-staff and all acts scheduled by the different councils will be suspended. The City Council has condemned the event “with the utmost firmness and rejection”, asking residents to join the minute of silence.
