The president of the Diputación de Segovia, Miguel Ángel de Vicente, inaugurated this Friday the new bridge over the river Eresma, on the SG-V-3321 road at kilometer point 6,930, in the municipality of Bernardos. Nearly one million euros have been invested and it has involved the most important engineering construction carried out on provincial roads. The bridge, after a year under construction, is now open to traffic.
The opening ceremony and commissioning were attended by the Vice President of the Regional Courts, Francisco Vázquez; the territorial delegate of the Board in Segovia, José Mazarías, and the mayors of the towns that join this route, Carbonero El Mayor, María Ángeles García, and Bernardos, José Luis Díez.
According to Vicente, the opening of this bridge will mean “an important improvement for road safety in this section”, with 80 meters in length, with steel and concrete as construction materials and a clear objective, safety.
This intervention was one of the most requested by the residents of the area, who saw the old stone bridge as a major source of danger, due to its deterioration due to the passage of time and the increase in traffic. The new infrastructure, once opened to circulation, leaves behind, according to the president of the Diputación, “years of assessing solutions until betting firmly and decisively on the right one and today, at last, the new Bernardos bridge is a reality that unites territory and people in equal parts and that allows communication to flow and guarantees the perfect conditions for comings and goings».
The new bridge is built parallel to the previous one, it represents “an engineering solution in accordance with the enclave in which it is located” and “the steel and concrete materials used will allow its integration with the environment, improving, at the same time, mobility in our territory and contributing to the economic development of the area”, collects Ical.
The construction works of the bridge over the river Eresma were awarded to the company Herrero Temiño S.L. for an amount of 988,741.32 euros, of which the Diputación de Segovia contributed more than 700,000 euros and the Junta de Castilla y León, the remaining amount through the Local Cooperation Fund.
