The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has transferred to the mayors and councilors of the municipalities of the region of La Jara, in Toledo, the main novelties of the Law on Economic, Social and Tax Measures against Depopulation and for the Development of the Environment Rural in Castilla-La Mancha and its main planning tool, the Regional Strategy against Depopulation.

The commissioner of the Demographic Challenge, Jesús Alique, has visited the area, classified as ‘extreme depopulation’ where he has detailed the tax exemptions that residents residing in these municipalities can take advantage of “just for the fact of living here”.

In this sense, Alique has reminded the mayors of the municipalities of this region -Los Navalmorales, Belvís de la Jara, Alcaudete de la Jara, la Nava de Ricomalillo and Espinoso del Rey- that they have tax deductions of between 20 and 25 percent of the regional IRPF quota, the maximum contemplated in the Law on Measures against Depopulation, for effective residence or habitual residence in these territories.

The commissioner, accompanied by the delegate of the Board in Talavera de la Reina, David Gómez Arroyo, and the delegate of the Demographic Challenge in the province of Toledo, Rubén Torres Moratalla, explained that the personal income tax deduction for acquisition must be added to this tax benefit. or rehabilitation of habitual residence of up to 15 percent; and 500 euros of deduction for transfer of habitual residence.

“With the sum of both, the residents of these municipalities practically do not have to pay taxes to the autonomous community,” he said. A measure that, as he has assured, aims to make our towns attractive places to live.

And along these lines, he continued, incentive measures have been designed for the installation of companies in rural areas, since those who decide to invest in depopulated areas to locate their business activity will also have tax deductions and up to 40 percent hundred more grants to settle in these territories.

The meeting is part of a round of work meetings that the commissioner is developing in all the provinces of the region to deepen with the mayors and councilors of different counties the measures of the Law and the Regional Strategy against Depopulation.

Finally, the commissioner recalled that the regional government is going to build a covered coworking space in Belvis de la Jara to facilitate entrepreneurship and innovation in the area, charged to the grant from the Ministry of the Demographic Challenge, amounting to 578,925 euros, to the start-up of a total of five centers, one in each province.
