A 17-year-old died in the Heltersberg mountain pool in the Southwest Palatinate during the night from Saturday to Sunday. The accident happened in the entrance area of the pool, said the mayor of the community, Felix Leidecker, on Monday. He did not want to give any further information and referred to the investigation by the police. The police for their part reported: “According to the current status of the investigation, the young person was fatally injured when trying to climb over the turnstile in the entrance area of the pool. The accident probably happened around 1:45 a.m.”. According to officials, the 17-year-old was found lifeless by other young people, and the alarmed emergency doctor could only determine death.
A crisis intervention team took care of the first responders on site. There is currently no evidence of third-party interference, and the public prosecutor’s office has initiated an investigation to clarify the matter.
The dead man came from the Verbandsgemeinde. “We are shocked and our thoughts are with the relatives,” said Leidecker, several media had previously reported.
