On June 11 and 12, the first solidarity mountain days are held in Castillo de Bayuela for the benefit of the Iñaki Ochoa de Olza-SOS Himalaya Foundation. During the weekend there will be various activities for all ages, from children’s face painting to mountain conferences offered by professional mountaineers, including a special mention for Alex Txikon, one of the great mountaineers in the world today, the mountaineer from Lemoa (Vizcaya) will tell us about his adventures during his expeditions to the Himalayas and the Karakorum.
The solidarity days are held in order to raise funds during the weekend and allocate it to the Iñaki Ochoa de Olza Foundation, this foundation is dedicated to improving the life and daily life of the Village of Seduwa, in Nepal, one of the most humble places on the planet.
A hospital, incubators, school, baby food, scholarships and sponsorships are some of the programs that the foundation has underway and we believe that with our collaboration, we can try to add our grain of sand to this cause.
Another objective of the weekend is to bring the world of mountaineering and the great mountains closer to the region, and of course, to make known the culture and way of life of the inhabitants of areas as remote as the aforementioned Himalayas or the Moroccan Atlas. «We started with the challenge of organizing this event, two and a half years ago, the pandemic stopped us, but thanks to the help of local associations, volunteers and the collaboration of companies and businesses from Castillo de Bayuela, towns of around and even even in the Community of Madrid, we have been able to take it up again and carry it out”, they assure from the organization.
The Conference will take place in the Plaza de la Constitución in Castillo de Bayuela. They will begin on Saturday, June 11 at 11:00 a.m. and are scheduled to end on Sunday 12 at 2:30 p.m.
The agenda is as follows: On Saturday, at 11:00, opening; at 11.30, opening activities, children’s face painting, climbing wall for adults and children, zip line, bouncy castle, popular game qualifying tournament; at 1:00 pm, SOS HIMALAYA projects colloquium offered by Elena de Sagaeta, national coordinator of the foundation; at 1:30 p.m., solidarity skewer; at 18:30, closing activities of the day and end of popular game tournament; at 7:00 p.m., Nacho de Paz conference. ‘The Moroccan Atlas and its people’. Presentation of his book ‘Don Quixote, Sancho and the stars’, and at 9:30 pm, a conference by Alex Txikon. ‘Expeditions during the pandemic’.
On Sunday the 12th, at 8:30 am, a hiker’s march to Torre Castilla; at 1:30 p.m., solidarity draw, and at 2:30 p.m., closing of the conference.
