Lucas Pouille, 162nd in the world and guest, was eliminated Tuesday in the first round of Roland-Garros by the Czech Zdenek Kolar (134th and from qualifying) 6-3, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. The Frenchman, ex-N.10 at the ATP and semi-finalist at the 2019 Australian Open, is chasing after his best level since having surgery on his right elbow in July 2020.
He has so far only pocketed three successes in 2022 on the main circuit, for six defeats. For his part, Kolar will face in the next round the Greek finalist from last year Stefanos Tsitsipas (4th) or the Italian Lorenzo Musetti (66th).
