According to the spokeswoman, around 4,400 people took part in the rally an hour after it started. 2000 participants were registered. The demonstration was to be held under the motto “For bread, peace, socialism – your crisis, not on our backs!” through the districts of Neukölln and Kreuzberg.

The rally was supposed to go under the new police station in the high-rise at Kottbusser Tor for the first time this year. The opening of the guard had been heavily criticized on the left spectrum. Especially there, the authorities expected violence from left-wing extremists. The police were therefore on duty with around 6,300 officers in the city area. More than 2,500 of them came from other federal states and from the federal police.

A total of over 20 demonstrations, rallies and meetings were registered in the capital on Sunday.
