The Court of Alicante will judge this Wednesday two men accused of appropriating more than one million euros corresponding to the funds obtained from the sale of the book “Puskas Legacy”, by the Real Madrid soccer player between the 50s and 60s, Ferenc Puskas Biro, father-in-law of one of the defendants. According to the information provided by the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV), in January 2011, the athlete’s widow, now deceased, opened an account in the Alicante town of Alfás del Pi, where she entered 1.19 million euros, corresponding to the rights of the work. Puskas, one of the historical legends of Real Madrid, died in November 2006.

According to the same sources, in said bank account the athlete’s daughter, married to one of the defendants, was recorded as authorized.

The Prosecutor’s Office maintains that the man, together with the director of the bank, managed to get authorization in said bank account, without the authorization of the soccer player’s daughter, who died on October 19, 2011.

During the months of September and October 2011, Puskas’s son-in-law withdrew money from the account until it was left with just over 1,400 euros. The Prosecutor’s Office requests a sentence of six years in prison for each of the two defendants for a continued crime of fraud and another of falsehood.
