After several incidents in the south-west where people were shot at, the police carried out a large-scale control operation last night. The Baden-Württemberg State Criminal Police Office (LKA) announced today that more than 150 police officers checked people and vehicles “at relevant locations” in Stuttgart and in the Esslingen, Göppingen, Ludwigsburg and Ulm regions almost 200 times.

“We are doing everything we can to prevent the escalation of violence in the region,” said LKA President Andreas Stenger in a statement. During the controls the night before, a man resisted, it was said. In addition, the officials had issued eight place references. Nothing was known about arrests.

Last many shots

Forces of the mobile task force had already arrested a 20-year-old in Plochingen on Friday, who, according to the police and public prosecutor’s office, is a suspect in the case of a shot at a 32-year-old in the Stuttgart district of Zuffenhausen. The man was taken into custody. The 32-year-old was shot in front of a restaurant in mid-March and seriously injured.

At the beginning of April, a shot was fired from a car at an innkeeper in Plochingen, who was injured. In this context, two 22-year-olds were taken into custody shortly afterwards.

In other cases, nothing is known about suspects. These include an innkeeper who was also shot in Plochingen on February 25th. At the end of February, a 21-year-old woman was shot at from a moving car in Eislingen/Fils. She was injured in the leg.
