Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz emphasized the importance of diversity in Germany. “It’s something that is a direct part of our country’s culture,” said the SPD politician on Tuesday evening at the 2023 Producers’ Festival in Berlin. At the reception of the film and television producers of the producer alliance, the industry meets annually for contacts and discussions.
It is important to always see the world in a completely different way, to meet people and to look at perspectives. “That makes liveliness, that makes democracy,” said Scholz. “Perhaps one of the very important messages in these times is that we not only accept the differences in our country, but that we see them as a great enrichment and as great luck.”
If that is expressed in the film, for example, it is a good thing. Scholz was “delighted that there is such a lively film culture in Germany”.
Björn Böhning, managing director of the producer alliance, described it as a message of the festival to stand up for community in society. “Discrimination has no place in our society,” said Böhning to the applause of the guests.
The celebrities of the evening included the actresses Iris Berben, Bettina Zimmermann, Jasmin Tabatabai and Katy Karrenbauer, their colleagues Ulrich Matthes, Alexander Scheer, Sylvester Groth, Kai Wiesinger, Andreas Pietschmann and Samuel Koch as well as Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth (Greens).
