In a serious accident on the B87 near Eilenburg in northern Saxony, three people died on Thursday. Five other people were injured, four of them seriously, according to a police spokesman in Leipzig. The Leipziger Volkszeitung (LVZ) and the “Bild” newspaper had previously reported. According to a dpa reporter, three badly damaged cars can be seen, and debris is lying on the road. A truck was also at the scene of the accident.

Around 10:45 a.m., several vehicles collided on the main road. The salvage is currently underway. The cause of the accident is still being determined, the spokesman said. The dead are two women and one man. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals. An expert is also on duty at the scene of the accident. The B87 was completely blocked after the accident between Eilenburg-Ost and Doberschütz on Thursday morning.
