The recent discussion about Rammstein and singer Till Lindemann is not slowing down the sales of the internationally successful Berlin band. The musicians are again represented in the latest Top 100 album charts with six of their eight studio albums to date, all of which have made significant gains.
The latest album “Zeit” climbed from 29th place in the previous week to 10th in the official German charts published on Friday by the company GfK Entertainment in Baden-Baden. Predecessor “Rammstein” rose from 52 to 20, the 2001 album “Mutter” made it from 61 to 25.
Three more albums by the band are back on the charts. “Reise, Reise” from 2004 is now at number 55, the 2009 release “Liebe ist für alle da” ended up at number 57, Rammstein’s first album “Herzeleid” from 1995 secured number 90.
With “Sonne” at number 69, a Rammstein song also made it back into the single charts.
In the past few days, several women – some anonymously – had raised allegations against Lindemann. They described situations that they sometimes found frightening. Young women were selected during concerts and asked if they wanted to come to the after show party. According to descriptions by some women, there were also sexual acts.
Lindemann had rejected allegations against him. He has his interests represented by a lawyer. “Serious allegations against our client were made by various women on social networks, especially on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube,” it said in a statement. “It has been repeatedly claimed that women at Rammstein concerts were drugged with knockout drops or alcohol to enable our client to perform sexual acts on them. These allegations are untrue without exception.”
According to the reports, the Berlin public prosecutor’s office has initiated preliminary proceedings against Lindemann. If the public prosecutor’s office becomes aware of a suspicion of a crime, they must investigate. Media reports can be the trigger for this. The presumption of innocence applies until the investigation is completed. The record label Universal Music Entertainment has temporarily suspended its marketing and promotional activities for Rammstein.
