One of the proposals of the Ministry of Equality for the new abortion law that the Government is preparing plans to include sick leave due to incapacitating menstrual pain. After a few days of public discussion in which the social agents have participated, the minister Irene Montero herself revealed yesterday that it will be Social Security that will assume the cost of these leaves, without the requirement of a number of days quoted or a time limit for the absence of women from their workplace.
Regulations with a gender perspective can open heated debates. In this case, the opinion is especially circumscribed to women as the only ones who have knowledge of the facts. Experiencing pain several days a month like the one suffered by millions of them affects the workplace. Regulating a way that they can conduct their working lives on equal terms with their male colleagues is a matter of justice.
