Less than a month after being kicked out as coach of Champions League participants FC Copenhagen, Denmark’s Jess Thorup is reportedly in talks with VfB Stuttgart. As the Danish tabloid “B.T.” reported on Sunday that the 52-year-old was about to become the head coach of the Swabian Bundesliga soccer club.

Thorup had already been in Stuttgart with his agent to talk about the job, the newspaper reported, which documented the whole thing with pictures of the coach on site. The “Stuttgarter Nachrichten” also reported on Sunday that Thorup was in Stuttgart for talks. According to this, however, there is still a second candidate in the race to succeed the suspended Pellegrino Matarazzo and interim coach Michael Wimmer.

Troubled FC Copenhagen parted ways with Thorup almost four weeks ago. The previous assistant coach Jacob Neestrup took over his post. As an active player, Thorup once played for KFC Uerdingen, among others.
