The pilots in the union were asked to vote on the package from August 3rd to 10th. According to Cockpit, almost 95 percent took part, with 65.5 percent of the members voting “yes”. The union did not provide any information on the content of the agreement on Thursday.
In the wage dispute, the pilots went on strike at the beginning of September 2022, and Lufthansa had to cancel almost all of its flights that day. Both sides agreed on an interim solution by the end of June this year. At that time, the pilots received retrospectively from August 2022 and April 2023 each 490 euros more per month. After “one and a half years of negotiations”, the agreement on the tariff package was reached at the end of July.
“Today’s acceptance of the collective agreements creates reliability for the pilots, Lufthansa and, last but not least, our passengers,” explained Cockpit President Stefan Herth. “This time we managed to bring the collective bargaining policy to fruition without the whistle and safety vest.” Around 5,200 pilots work at Lufthansa.
