In the opinion of coach Christian Eichner, there should be no transfer proceeds at any price at Karlsruher SC in the future either. “In the end, the most important thing is that KSC, the fans and everyone in this stadium have at least second division football,” said the 40-year-old before the game at SV Darmstadt 98 this Friday (6:30 p.m. / Sky). For him, the “red line” is crossed “when it comes to endangering the sporting goal,” explained Eichner.

KSC President Holger Siegmund-Schultze had accused the sports director Oliver Kreuzer, who was released on April 1, of not having generated enough such revenue and not having presented any appropriate concepts for it. In Siegmund-Schultze’s opinion too few young talents have been developed and sold. “By the way, the youngsters have been well served by the players this year and last year,” said coach Eichner.

The coach, who initially took over Kreuzer’s business in the newly founded “Taskforce Sport” of the KSC with the commercial director Michael Becker, among others, also admitted a new perspective. “I think it’s like everything in life. We need a good mix in all areas,” said Eichner.

Of course, the club will try to generate transfer proceeds in the future. However, this possibility has also existed once or twice in the past in quite an interesting context. “But we all decided as a club that we wouldn’t do that,” said Eichner, referring to the rejected million-euro offers for ex-KSC striker Philipp Hofmann, who now plays for VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga, or for youngsters Tim Breithaupt during the past winter break.
