Anyone interested can now get a clear overview of the vaccination process in Germany in a new online tool from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). The offer, called VacMap, has been available since December and provides an overview of the distribution of routine vaccinations.
“VacMap is currently visualizing vaccination rates for the infant and child vaccinations recommended by the Standing Vaccination Commission with the data status of the last routine report,” said the RKI in a report. The quotas for young people and adults should also follow soon and the tool should be supplemented with information on other standard vaccinations.
Using filter settings, VacMap makes it possible to visualize and compare data by year of birth, age group, vaccination status and region in the form of graphs and maps.
The RKI has been evaluating billing data from the statutory health insurance associations to record vaccination rates in the population for almost 20 years. According to the authority, the evaluations are based on nationwide statutory medical billing data from those with statutory health insurance, which are transmitted to the RKI by the associations of statutory health insurance physicians.
