Mild, windy and changeable – even after Christmas, the cold winter weather in Germany will not be there for the time being. “In the coming days, there will be predominantly high air pressure in southern Europe, which will ensure spring-like and mostly dry weather,” said meteorologist Marco Manitta from the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach on Monday. “Northern Europe, on the other hand, has a number of low-pressure areas and they make the weather unstable and sometimes very windy. Germany is right in between and will sometimes benefit more from the lows, sometimes from the highs,” says the expert. The mild, windy and changeable weather conditions will not change significantly in the coming days.

According to the DWD, the high will be noticeable on Tuesday, especially in the south of the country, and will calm the weather. “It gets a little cooler with maximum values between 4 and 9 degrees, but this is not really wintry,” said the expert. According to the forecasts, the sun will also show up longer in some regions. Only in the north do the clouds stay denser and it can rain a little from time to time, especially on the North Sea. There can be stormy weather on the coasts and in the mountains – even severe gusts of wind on some peaks.

It will remain overcast in the north and west

On Wednesday, the sky will be mostly overcast in the north, west and center and there will be rain in some areas. According to the forecasts, it will often remain dry in the south and sunny at times, especially south of the Danube. The temperatures reach 5 to 10 degrees, on the Upper Rhine even up to 12 degrees. Heavy gusts of wind are possible on exposed peaks.

Showers or shower-like rain are expected on Thursday with changing clouds. According to the DWD, there is little precipitation in the east and south-east and the sun is most likely to appear in the Alps. The temperatures rise to 9 to 13 degrees, near the coast and in the mountains it stays a little cooler with maximum values around 7 degrees. In addition, moderate to fresh south-west wind will blow with strong gusts. There can be severe gusts of wind on mountain peaks on Thursday and Friday – sometimes even hurricane-force gusts, it said.
