The Councilor for Urban Planning, Raquel Torralbo, announced this Wednesday “good news for Ciudad Real to end 20 years of abandonment of the Plaza Mayor and its surroundings thanks to the approval last Friday, June 3, by the Regional Commission of Urbanism, of the authorization for the modification proposed by the city council (UE-Plaza) “to deactivate the consideration of unconsolidated urban land, both in the Plaza Mayor, as well as Alfonso X street and Postas street, which did not allow the owners build in a highly demanded environment, in the central point of the city».
Torralbo described as a great success of the government team because it has been one of the most difficult and complicated modifications, with 150 interested parties and to which no allegations have been presented, the Ciudad Real City Council has informed in a press release.
“If everything follows its normal course, before the end of the year we can begin to see the Plaza Mayor beginning to regenerate, because currently there is a large amount of substandard housing, corralones, buildings almost in ruins and it is a showcase that we could not afford to for tourism and economic activity”, he underlined.
Give the Government team, stressed Torralbo, “we continue working to improve the lives of people in this city and creating a friendlier environment full of life, both economically and socially, green spaces, because it is our line of work, to continue betting on decisions such as the regeneration of the surroundings of the Plaza Mayor».
The process has already gone through the process of public exposure with all the favorable sectoral reports and now it must be presented to the City Council, which “is trying to speed it up, so that it will be this very month of June”, to later go to the Plenary (probably in July) and finally return to the Regional Commission so that it issues the final resolution and publishes it in the Official Gazette of Castilla-La Mancha.
The Councilor for Urban Planning ended by saying that it is a crucial action for the city because the city center is going to be regenerated and there are “several owners who have projects to build, since it is a highly demanded space, and in which it can be carried out carry out construction for residential use, commercial offices, dotational or hospitality”.
