Case closed. Thursday evening, at the end of the meeting between Crystal Palace and Everton, Patrick Vieira, taken to task by a supporter of the Liverpool team, had put him down by hooking his leg. British police announced on Monday that no official prosecution would be initiated against the French coach, neither of the two protagonists having wished to file a complaint.
As of last Friday, the police of Merseyside (north-west of England) had launched an investigation into this altercation. “Officers have spoken to the two men involved and the opportunity to file a formal complaint or support a lawsuit has been denied,” local authorities said.
The investigation by the English Federation (FA) continues however. Patrick Vieira therefore still risks a sporting sanction.
