US actor Nathan Lee Chasing His Horse, known as Nathan Chasing Horse, has been arrested by police. The 46-year-old is accused of serious crimes, including the sexual abuse of women and underage girls and human trafficking, according to the Las Vegas police.

After months of investigations, police on Tuesday searched Chasing Horse’s north Las Vegas home where he is said to live with five wives, according to the AP news agency. In addition to weapons, 18.5 kilograms of marijuana and psychoactive mushrooms, a memory card with videos showing sexual assaults was also found. Chasing Horse was being held at the Clark County Jail and is scheduled to appear before a magistrate on Thursday.

Nathan Chasing Horse is best known for his role in the 1990 Oscar-winning epic film, Dances With Wolves. There he plays the Lakota boy “Smiles a lot” alongside Kevin Costner. Chasing Horse is a Native American of the Lakota Sioux Nation himself.

Authorities believe Chasing Horse is the leader of a cult called “The Circle,” according to the AP. In this position he is said to have sexually abused young indigenous women and girls for many years, had underage wives and engaged in sex trafficking with some victims. Chasing Horse is said to have trained his wives with firearms and instructed them to shoot at police officers should they act against him, according to investigative authorities. When this type of defense doesn’t work, women should take poison pills.

Police have already identified at least six victims of sexual abuse, one of whom was as young as 13 at the time of the attack. Further allegations of sexual abuse went back to the early 2000s. The crimes are said to have been committed in the US states of South Dakota, Montana and Nevada and in Canada.
