Terrible find on a property in the US state of Oklahoma: Police discovered seven bodies while searching for two missing teenagers and a man. Investigators found the dead on a rural property near the small town of Henryetta, Sheriff Eddy Rice announced on Monday (local time). The police had previously issued a missing person’s report in which the two teenagers, two girls aged 14 and 16, and a 39-year-old man were wanted.
“We believe we’ve found the individuals, we’re still awaiting confirmation,” said Sheriff Eddy Rice. The father of one missing woman confirmed to a partner station of the TV channel CBS that his 16-year-old daughter was among the fatalities. Accordingly, the daughter was friends with the children of the 39-year-old, who had come out of prison in 2020 after a long prison sentence for rape.
Details not yet known
She spent the weekend with her family, but then didn’t come home on Sunday as planned, CBS continued to report. The police assume that the 39-year-old is also among the dead. On Monday he should have been in court for several allegations, but did not appear, the New York Times reported.
The police initially did not give any further details about the dead and the background. However, several media reported about a woman who claimed to be the mother-in-law of the possible perpetrator on Facebook. She said the other four dead were her daughter and three grandchildren.
Henryetta Public Schools said in a statement on their website that they “mourn the tragedy of the loss of several of our students.” A vigil was also called. School lessons will continue, however, and psychological support will be available. The place Henryetta has around 6000 inhabitants and is located about 145 kilometers east of Oklahoma City in the interior of the USA.
