Gruesome discovery in a garden: An 18-year-old girl was found dead in Pasewalk in the east of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Due to the serious injuries, investigators are assuming a violent crime.

Two suspects were arrested. The police and public prosecutor’s office said the 20-year-old man and the 19-year-old woman were being investigated for manslaughter. The district court issued arrest warrants against the two.

The 18-year-old had been missing since Wednesday evening and was found outdoors by the police on Thursday evening in a garden in Pasewalk (Western Pomerania-Greifswald district). A search dog from the rescue dog team of the German Red Cross (DRK) Ostvorpommern Greifswald tracked down the dead woman.

“Massive and blunt force trauma” to the upper body

The body had injuries to the upper body that suggested “massive and blunt force trauma,” the police said. The 18-year-old should be autopsied in the Greifswald forensic medicine department today.

According to media information, the woman is said to have lived in a nearby residential group for people with disabilities and also had a mental disability herself. Neither the police nor the public prosecutor wanted to confirm this. Investigators had been looking for the 18-year-old in the area since the disappearance.

The police set up a multi-member investigation team and cordoned off the site for forensic evidence. The investigating authorities emphasized that further information on individual investigation results was not possible for tactical reasons given the age of those involved in the crime, all of whom were adolescents, and in view of the investigations that had just begun.
