Ciudad Real will not stop dancing over the next few days and until May 19 thanks to the II Festival of Contemporary Dance, in which 17 companies will flood some of the most emblematic spaces of the city such as the Gasset Park, the Prado Gardens, the Plaza de la Constitución, the Puerta de Toledo, the Torreón, the Old Casino, the Quijano Municipal Theatre, the House of the City or the Sensación Theatre. Likewise, there will be educational actions, conferences and there will be two dance schools in the city and the Professional Conservatory of Puertollano.

The festival has a budget of approximately 80,000 euros and has been promoted by the City Council of Ciudad Real, with the support of the Diputación’s ‘Danza a Escena’ and ‘Platea’ programs and the performing arts program of the Junta de Castilla -The Stain.

The official inauguration was at the ‘Don Quijote’ school, where the mayor, Eva María Masías, the first deputy mayor, Pilar Zamora, the councilor for Culture, Nacho Sánchez, the vice president of the Provincial Council, David Triguero, and Carmen Macareno attended. , which has a dance school with the same name and participates in the festival.

“Dance is that universal language that enters through the eyes, that is heard and that reaches the soul, so that everyone knows how to connect with it,” said the mayor. “Ciudad Real is an educating city and that is why we wanted to make this festival focused on discovering dance from an early age,” added the Councilor for Culture, Nacho Sánchez. For her part, Carmen Macareno considers that “dance is very broad, so all the schools in Ciudad Real are doing their bit to turn the capital into a benchmark”, stressing that “dance is the most natural to express ourselves, be it flamenco, classical or contemporary».
