About fifteen clinics specializing in the management of symptoms of long-term COVID and Lyme disease will soon be deployed across Quebec.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services announced Thursday the establishment of these dedicated centers in the coming months. They will be active for at least three years.

Five reference centers and ten satellite clinics will be accessible to the population. The CHUM will be the coordinator of this project.

Care, but also research on these diseases will be at the heart of the project, according to the MSSS.

“Long COVID, like Lyme disease in its persistent form, are diseases that are not yet well understood, both in Quebec and elsewhere in the world,” said Minister of Health Christian Dubé in a statement.

“We want to make sure that people who are suffering from the consequences of these diseases receive the services they need, just like any other patient.”

Last December, Quebec estimated that about 23,000 people could benefit from the services offered by these clinics.
