With pictures every half hour, a nature photographer wants to document the glacier retreat in Switzerland in real time. The pictures taken on two glaciers can be seen on a website, as the photographer Jürg Kaufmann announced.

The “Glaciers.Today” project on the Piz Palü and on the Persgletscher should therefore run for ten years. “The glaciers serve as huge fever gauges for our planet. They mercilessly show us the consequences of climate change,” says Kaufmann.

The solar-powered cameras are installed near the Berghaus Diavolezza at an altitude of almost 3000 meters. The Diavolezza is a yoke and ski area in the municipality of Pontresina in Graubünden in south-eastern Switzerland.
