The Catholic Schools of Castilla y León have asked to postpone the implementation of the LomLOE for a course due to the existing “doubts” in the evaluation, promotion and certification. “We continue to denounce the legal uncertainty and insecurity caused by the arrival of a new educational law,” they insisted. «There was no citizen participation in the creation of the LomLOE, nor in the development of curricula. And the evaluation, promotion and titling proposals have generated doubts and concerns, as well as the delay in the implementation of the standard. We believe that delaying its start-up for a year would be the most appropriate thing for centers, teachers and students”, has been collected in the final declaration of the annual assembly of the employers’ association of 175 subsidized Catholic centers in the Community, which represents 28 percent of the student body of Castile and León.
The face-to-face meeting, which took place at the Colegio San Agustín in Valladolid, has served to lament the “lost opportunity” with the latest educational reform to reach the “necessary” educational pact. «We need a policy that, from humility, seeks the common good of citizens; that it be a generous testimony of truth; that it pursues to achieve a fairer, more equitable, freer society, and that, of course, fights so that this freedom is reflected and appreciated in our educational system”, says the document.
The president of the Catholic Schools of Castilla y León, Encarna González-Campos, has criticized that the rule “questions” the figure of the educational concert and, therefore, the right to choose a center and the freedom of families.
The organization has also denounced the “chronic deficit” in the “Other expenses” item, to which is now added the economic impact of the Covid pandemic, the high cost of energy and the economic difficulties of families. “This scenario forces us to be more efficient with the management of the centers, an effort that must be shared with the administrations, since they must assume their commitment to adequately finance the effective cost of the school post,” said the regional officials. of Catholic Schools in the presence of the Minister of Education, Rocío Lucas.
The Assembly, which has been attended by some 250 representatives of the 176 educational centers belonging to the organization, has highlighted the work of its schools during the pandemic. “Despite all the obstacles and the approach of a law without consensus, we will continue to be united in defending the concert as an effective formula to guarantee freedom and educational equity,” he highlighted. “We will continue to defend the social function of the concerted school and, specifically, of the Catholic school, and we will continue to defend the need to improve its financing and education in general,” she stressed.
