Irish singer Bono, leader of the band U2, offered a spontaneous concert from a Kyiv metro station, as a personal contribution to peace and coinciding with the so-called Victory Day over Nazi Germany and the end of World War II in Europe.

“We all pray with you so that you can reach peace soon,” Bono said, according to a video posted on the YouTube platform by several Ukrainian portals, alluding to the bloody Irish conflict and the war that Ukrainians are now suffering.

The Irish singer and activist took the microphone and performed some legendary pieces from his repertoire for the groups of citizens gathered at the station, such as Desire and With or without you, although the crucial moment came when he sang Stand by me.

Bono’s performance came as a surprise, without prior notice, and within the singer’s activities in humanitarian causes in various parts of the world, whether in situations of war, against hunger or against global havoc.
