It is Blinken’s second visit to the region since the start of the war between Hamas and Israel. The US Secretary of State traveled to Israel just a few days after the major attack by the radical Islamic Palestinian organization to signal US support to the country. Blinken spent ten days visiting other countries in the region, including Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. He visited Israel twice: On October 18, Blinken accompanied US President Joe Biden on his solidarity visit to Tel Aviv.

The United States is Israel’s largest supporter and provides the country with extensive military aid. On October 20, Biden asked the US Congress for billions of dollars in additional aid for Israel and Ukraine.
