Basketball Bundesliga side Rostock Seawolves think they are facing a difficult task in the game at Brose Bamberg on Saturday (6 p.m. / MagentaSport). Although the promoted team has only one win less than the nine-time German champions after 23 match days, head coach Christian Held emphasized: “We are playing one of the hottest teams in the league, which has recently clinched five wins in a row.”
Although the Rostock coach can plan again with the recently injured professionals Derrick Alston Jr. and Stefan Ilzhöfer, he said with a view to the opponent: “The Bamberg squad is incredibly well positioned with enormous quality in every position. There have been some changes since the beginning of the season in the team. They’ve been much more stable since then and play with a lot of confidence.”
Bamberg started the season with five defeats, but then celebrated their first win with the Seawolves of all places. In the meantime, the hosts have strengthened themselves with the experienced professionals Patrick Miller and Gerel Simmons and have moved up to eighth place in the table. “If you take into account the difficult start to the season, then you can see the real quality of Bamberg: It would be a team playing for home advantage in the playoffs,” Held referred to the host’s development and added: “We’re looking forward to the challenge and gladly accept.”
