The trial of the brutal attack on a sleeping elderly couple in their house is entering another round. Both the public prosecutor’s office and two of the three people convicted in the first instance have requested revision, as the Augsburg Regional Court announced on request. The third defendant has waived an appeal. During the trial he made a lengthy confession. The “Augsburger Allgemeine” had previously reported on it.
In the first instance, the three men had been sentenced to between seven years and seven years and nine months in prison. Two of them are said to have beaten up a then 83-year-old man and his 71-year-old wife in their bed in December 2021. Both suffered numerous head injuries, the man was blind in one eye. The third accused is said to have planned the crime.
The men are said to have been looking for cash. After the beating, they fled without taking anything.
