A councilor of the City Council of Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura) has been sentenced by the Criminal Court number 2 of Arrecife with headquarters in Puerto del Rosario to four months in prison and special disqualification for the right to passive suffrage during the time of sentence, as the perpetrator of a continuing crime of sexual harassment.
Councilman José Juan Herrera Martel (Association of Electors of Puerto del Rosario (AEPR) must also compensate the victim, a municipal advisor, with 3,000 euros.
The ruling considers it proven that, between May and September 2019, the accused, “with the manifest intention of satisfying his desires of a sexual nature, made multiple proposals of an identical nature” through social networks to the victim.
She held a position of trust in the city council and was a co-worker of the councilor, who despite the constant refusals, insisted until generating a “serious situation of anxiety for the victim”, says the ruling.
