A 21-year-old fled from the federal police in his car. Federal police officers wanted to control the man on Monday morning on the A4 in the direction of Dresden when he ignored the stop signals and sped away at high speed, as the police department announced on Monday. Accordingly, both the federal police officers and a patrol of the highway police and the Bautzen search group took up the pursuit.

The 21-year-old left the autobahn at the Salzendorf junction and continued his escape across the country. In Geißmannsdorf in the district of Bautzen, the fugitive tried to turn around and almost ran over a police officer. An officer then shot the tires of the car several times. Nevertheless, the man accelerated and continued his journey in the direction of Bischofswerda.

On the Altmarkt in Bischofswerda, the 21-year-old fugitive finally crashed into a bollard and a parked car and drove down a flight of stairs. The forces then managed to arrest the man. According to the police, the alleged suspect may be connected to smuggling crime.
