Mourning for the Mexican actor: The actor, known from “X-Men: Future is Past” and “Designated Survivor,” among others, died on January 8th at the age of just 42 as a result of cancer. His representative confirmed this to “The Hollywood Reporter,” among others.
Canto’s illness was not publicly known. He leaves behind his wife Stephanie Ann Canto and their two children. His partner already shared a selfie together and a verse from the Bible on Instagram. “Forever my darling Adan, see you soon,” she concluded.
Adan Canto was born in December 1981 in Mexico. He made his acting debut at the age of nine in the film drama “Bittersweet Chocolate”. The actor celebrated his big breakthrough in 2013 alongside Kevin Bacon in the series “The Following”. He gained further fame through the series “Narcos”, “Designated Survivor” and “The Cleaning Lady”.
He was last seen in films in “X-Men: Future is Past”, “Before Tomorrow” and “Bruised”.
Some of his fellow actors and series colleagues paid tribute to Canto on social media. His “Designated Survivor” co-star Kiefer Sutherland posted a black-and-white photo together on Instagram and loving farewell words: “The loss of Adan Canto breaks my heart. He was such a wonderful spirit. As an actor, it was his Desire to do well, be great and then do better, really impressive and we will miss him very much.”
Halle Berry, with whom Canto worked on the films “Bruised” and “X-Men,” wrote on Instagram: “I’m still at a loss for words… But my dear, sweet friend Adan just got his wings. Forever, always in my heart.”
