Whether Chardonnay or Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Gris – the Vin Tonic tastes best when prepared with a dry white wine. With its low residual sugar content and more acidity than, for example, a semi-dry or sweet wine, the summer drink (in combination with tonic water, which is known for its bitter taste) is said to be particularly refreshing. Below we have summarised which ingredients are missing to round it off and how you can recreate the trendy drink.

To prepare a Vin Tonic you only need these five ingredients:

Another taste tip: You can use a chilled rosé instead of white wine. And the lime isn’t a must either – lemons and oranges go at least as well with the drink as fresh berries.

Note: The quantities are variable – meaning you can decide how much wine and tonic water your summer drink should contain according to your own taste.

If you don’t feel like buying all the ingredients individually, you can get the Vin Tonic already prepared: suppliers like Lidl or Amazon have ready-made mixes with white wine and/or rosé. This saves you the time (and money) of mixing the summer drink yourself. If you like it even more sparkling, you can try this variant: the VinTonic Lemonello.
