Hannah Herzsprung has a special relationship with the star. We conducted one of her first major interviews with her in spring 2007. The occasion was – a small sensation for a cinema newcomer – her double nomination for the German Film Prize: as best supporting actress in the family drama “The Real Life” and as best leading actress in “Four Minutes”. The role of the brilliant but self-destructive piano player Jenny, imprisoned for murder, marked her international breakthrough. The film ended up winning 64 awards and was seen by two million viewers worldwide.
A good 17 years later, Herzsprung’s Jenny is now returning. “15 Years” tells what happens after her release and how she wants to settle old scores by taking part in a casting show. Herzsprung, now 42, throws herself into her star role with the same fury as before. A perfect opportunity to judge them against their statements back then. Has she changed? Did she live up to her own standards and remain true to herself?
