King Charles III As a monarch, he is not only the head of the royal family, but also the head of the Church of England. Christian holidays are of great importance within the British royal family. Easter was also particularly important to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

This year, members of the British Royal Family will celebrate the first Easter after the death of their beloved Queen, Mother and Grandma. Last year, the Queen didn’t make it to Windsor to celebrate with the rest of the family. So Charles, Camilla and Co. are quite used to not being at the Queen’s side every party. And yet the mood this year is likely to be different than usual.

“As Easter is early this year it is also the second anniversary of the death of Prince Philip on Easter Sunday and the Queen Mum died on Easter Good Friday 2002 – 21 years ago. I think the mood will be cheerful as they were all very old, but [at the same time] thoughtful,” explains Royal author Ingrid Seward in the British newspaper “The Sun”.

“There will likely be some special prayers just for the family and immediate household in the castle’s private chapel,” Seward said. “There will also be a mention during the Easter service at St. George’s Chapel for the Queen and Philip. The entire royal family residing at the castle will attend as always,” she said.

In the British media one is certain that Charles III. and Camilla will host the role of the late Queen. And Seward reveals who will be on the guest list for the family Easter: “The whole family will be there: the Chattos and their children [Lady Sarah Chatto is the niece of Queen Elizabeth II., Editor’s note], Princess Anne and Tim Laurence, Zara and Mike Tindall and their children, Peter Phillips and his two girls, Sophie and Edward and their two children, Beatrice and Eugenie with their husbands and children.”

Then there’s – of course – William and Kate and their children, “also Lord Snowdon and possibly his children. It’s always the same group and has been for many years,” says Seward.

There is a high probability that four family members will be missing: Meghan, Harry and their children Archie and Lilibet will probably spend Easter together in California. Last year the Sussexes were in the Netherlands for the festival. They attended the Invictus Games founded by Prince Harry.
