An ex-cosmetic surgeon and her husband have each been sentenced to more than five years in prison for jointly attempting to incite murder. The Hamburg Regional Court saw it as proven that the 49-year-old doctor and the 52-year-old entrepreneur tried to hire a contract killer via the Darknet who was supposed to kill the woman’s ex-partner living in Hamburg. The defendant, who last lived with her husband in Stuttgart, was in a custody battle with him over their daughter.
“This is an extraordinary case,” said the presiding judge on Tuesday at the verdict. On the one hand, because such a crime does not occur often, on the other hand, because two formerly professionally successful people are capable of such an act. She attested to the two accused “an enormous fall height”, but crimes occur in all walks of life.
The 49-year-old doctor was sentenced to five years and six months in prison. Prosecutors had asked for seven years and ten months in prison. The 52-year-old entrepreneur was sentenced to five years and three months. Prosecutors had asked for six years and eight months. The defense asked for an acquittal for their clients. An appeal can be lodged against the judgment.
