When Sylvia Stolzmann enters the Edeka store, she puts on her glasses. When she goes shopping, the 74-year-old from Hamburg has to look carefully: Because of her allergies, she has been paying attention to the ingredients for a long time – but since the prices have risen so much, she also inspects the small print on the shelves. Bananas, cucumbers and zucchini lie in green boxes right at the entrance. Stolzmann looks at Thomy’s hollandaise sauce, which now stands prominently in front of the vegetables during the asparagus season. Part of the packaging is colored red: it says 20 percent more content. “Oh,” she says and pushes the car on anyway.
