A striking number of participants announced their separation after the RTL program “Das Sommerhaus der Stars – Kampf der Promipaare”. Again and again there are reports of a kind of love curse that lies on the show. The balance of the seven winning couples is sobering: only two have been able to save their relationship to date.

The “Goodbye Germany” emigrants Caro (44) and Andreas Robens (56) won the fifth season in 2020. Although the former bouncer shocked with several outbursts of anger and even threatened divorce in the TV house, the couple sticks together. A short time after the broadcast, the two even renewed their yes at the end of 2020 for their tenth wedding anniversary with a big celebration in Mallorca.

Uwe (56) and Iris Abel (54) are still a couple. They won the third season in 2018. They had met seven years earlier on the RTL show “Bauer sucht Frau”. In 2023 they will celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary. Iris Abel said in an interview with RTL in December 2022: “We just can’t live without each other. We tease each other a lot. We argue. And we get along again.”

Not all couples can do that. The youngest victims of the said show curse are “Unter Uns” star Lars Steinhöfel (37) and Dominik Schmitt (32). They were the winners of the sixth season in 2021. After five and a half years of relationship, the surprising separation followed in April 2023. It looked so good at first: After the show, they got engaged in Paris in autumn 2021 and wanted to get married on September 23, 2023, their sixth anniversary.

Antonia Hemmer (23) and Patrick Romer (27) won the seventh season in 2022, although the “Bauer sucht Frau” couple shocked other celebrities and viewers with their toxic relationship. The farmer had repeatedly insulted and humiliated his girlfriend in the summer house. She found afterwards: “Of course he said sentences that you can’t cut and they were hurtful. Unfortunately, I didn’t defend myself enough.” In November 2022, they shared a joint statement: “Unfortunately, our relationship did not withstand public pressure or the countless speculations of the past few weeks.” The winners of the fourth season in 2019, the reality stars Elena Miras (30) and Mike Heiter (30), also ended in love. Although they have their daughter Aylen (4), they separated after three years in September 2020 and have been publicly blaming each other ever since. After their victory they found: “The summer house has welded us together even more.”

When the second season flickered across the screens in 2017, model Nico Schwartz (45) and former “Bachelor” candidate Saskia Atzerodt (31) were already separated. He revealed in the RTL interview: “After shooting the summer house, she wrote to me that she no longer loves me and that it would be better if we went our separate ways.” The show still showed him proposing to her. The winners of the first season in 2016 were also not lucky in love. Xenia Princess of Saxony (26) and acrobat Rajab Hassan (43) surprisingly announced their separation after seven years at the beginning of 2017. “But we remain friends and colleagues,” assured the princess to “Bild”.

Will things be better for celebrity couples this year? Singer Marc Terenzi (44) and his fiancé Verena Kerth (41) are traded as the first candidates. According to numerous media reports, however, the relationship is said to be struggling with several problems. These are probably not good conditions to escape the “summer house curse”.
