Last week an era came to an end in Denmark: After 52 years on the throne, Margrethe II (83) resigned as queen on January 14th. On the same day, Crown Prince Frederik (55) became King Frederik

You can see it: King Frederik X in a magnificent uniform, next to his Queen Mary (51) in an elegant white dress. Standing next to her father are the tall Crown Prince Christian (18) and Princess Isabella (16), the royal couple’s eldest daughter. Meanwhile, at their mother’s side are the twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine (both 13).

The Danish royal family’s official Instagram account had already published the first official portrait of King Frederik X on the day of the coronation. It shows Frederik shortly before departing from Amalienborg Palace to Christiansborg Palace, where Queen Margrethe II signed her declaration of abdication last Sunday.

The royal family also published Frederik’s official monogram. It consists of two mirrored Fs, between which is the Roman numeral X (ten) and the royal crown. The palace announced that the emblem will replace Queen Margrethe’s monogram in several places in the future and will appear on royal writings, among other things.
